Ever since I was a little boy, it was my dream to go to Ireland. I don’t know if it was the Lucky Charm marshmallows I picked out of my morning cereal or my love of St. Patrick’s Day, but I have always wanted to hop the pond and venture to the Emerald Isle. Me being me, I was looking for a bargain, because as my readers know, I rarely pay full price for anything.
Doing a little research on the internet proved fruitful in my quest for a frugal vacation. I found some great promotional discount codes that helped me save big bucks on the flight. Even after booking the flight, I was able to save some moolah on the hotel and rental car. It was definitely worth the fifteen minutes of time I spent researching. After all, I’d rather have more money to spend in Ireland than on getting there!
First of all, I wanted to leave from St. Louis, which does not have a direct flight to Kerry or Dublin. These are the most popular places in Ireland. But I booked my flight anyway, just with a layover and switch to a Lufthansa flight leaving from New York City. I hadn’t flown internationally in awhile, so I was interested to see the latest and greatest bells and whistles aboard the plane. Lufthansa did not disappoint. From the television screens to the comfortable seats, all my expectations were blown out of the water by the high-class offerings provided to each guest.
I upgraded my flight for a little extra leg room and the ability to recline a bit more. I’m not quite sure if this was worth it because when I looked around at the class below me, they all seemed to have plenty of room.
I tell you, these European airlines sure know how to please their customers. Everything went smoothly from ticketing through customs to take off and landing. The food was pretty great, and not just by airline standards. There’s nothing more refreshing than the European version of an American Import beer. I guess they really know how to make them in their homeland!
I would definitely consider flying Lufthansa again. Their customer service was great and their ticket prices after awesome, especially since their discounts were better than most flights I could find. Ireland was outstanding. The beauty cannot be accurately depicted in pictures, movies and postcards. This is a place everyone should experience in person, and everyone can, thanks to the big discounts available online.
